Tommy Dixon Services To Football Award

The President of the Barkston Ash FA, Mark Heap, had the honour of presenting the Tommy Dixon Services to Football Award for 2016 to Graham Hopton of Bardsey F.C.

Graham received his award in front of a packed clubhouse at Bardsey Sports Club recently. Graham was joined by members of his family and friends, many ex-players and managers from Bardsey F.C.'s past joined him to make the occasion extra special.

The Barkston Ash President, Mark Heap said, "The work and service Graham has given to Bardsey and local football over the years made him a worthy recipient of the award. The nomination we received made the decision of the Council a very easy one."

The Barkston Ash services to football award has been presented since 1999. Last year it was renamed in memory of Tommy Dixon who passed away in 2014 having given distinguished service to the Barkston Ash FA as president between 1975 and 1995 and did much to support not only football, but many other sports in the Barkston Ash area.
