Basingstoke & District Saturday League Match Reports

Basingstoke A Cup Semi Final.
Twentyten proved too good for the Hook North Hants May Cup holders, by beating them 5-2 at Preston Candover and now move into the Final of the North |Hants May Cup, a trophy they won two seasons ago. They were on top from the start and took a 10th minute lead when Joe Hill played a one two with Joe Osborne and had an easy tap in. In the 20th a cross from Osborne was chested down and it led to James Arnold taking advantage of a keeper error in not claiming the ball. In the 44th Hook were awarded a penalty when Jake Tanner was penalized for foul on Charles Page and Andy Parker put the spot kick away. In the 60th the best goal of the seven came when Christian Cox found Charleie Manning and after good control crossed for Osborne to head home his second and a 3-1 advantage. Manning then added another after a Joe Hill flick on. A fight back from Hook saw Dave White hit a good chance over the bar and they then pulled it back to 4-2 when Kieran Farmer headed home a corner kick. Twentyten made it five through Carl Pearson from Tanner centre with ten minute to go. It is not clear who the winner will meet in the Final. Their is a dispute on the Quarter Final tie between Broughton and Kingsclere, with DCUK awaiting the outcome of who they will meetb in the Semi Final. KO 6.30 pm.
North Hants May Cup Semi Final.
Gonzales was well saved by keeper Vincent Mondane, but Ben Clarke followed up to net the rebound. Although Wizards had more of the play and forced some good saves, Dan Hargood with one in particular after good inter play with Dan Costen. Eventually they did level through Greg Adams in the 60th. Despite losing Costen sent off, the game went to penalties. Gonzales and Jay Green netted for Berg. North Hants Saturday Junior Cup Quarter Final Replay.
Winklebury Wizards met AFC Berg in the North Hants Junior Cup Quarter Final in January and as the referee incorrectly played extra time after it ended in a 2-2 draw, a replay was ordered and this time after it again ended 2-2, a penalty shootout resulted in Wizards winning 4-2. They will now meet Twentyten Reserves in the Semi Final.. In the 15th minute Scott Large gave Wizards a 15th minute lead from a Alex Stevens cross with a half volley, but Graham Dwyer equalized in the 28th. In the 35th a shot from Carl

Basingstoke Saturday League
Division One
Basingstoke United could not raise a team to play Basingstoke Royals; therefore the three points will be awarded to Royals to see them back on top of the Division One table
At the other end of the table AFC Aldermaston Reserves won their second league game of the season at the expense of bottom club Basingstoke Athletic with a 2-0 win. The first was scored by Ricky Waknell after good build up between Stave Francis and Hilton. Good saves by the Aldermaston keeper Kevin Butcher kept it at 1-0 and although they hit the post and had other chances, it was not until the 70th when they made the game safe. Rio Francis with a 25 yard lob that went in off the bar.
Division Two
Herriard Sports overcame Basingstoke Labour Club one of their main rivals for the Division Tone of their rivals for their main rivals for the Division Two Championship, beating them 3-1 at Brighton Hill. It was a tough first half for the leaders, as they were troubled by the precise free kicks taken by Wayne Barlow. It was his free kick in the 40th minute that gave Labour the lead in the 40th minute, when Josh Dickens rose at the far post to head past keeper Dave Purt. Three minutes into the second half Herriard drew level when a strong run on a counter attack by Simon Jane led to Chris Dobbie scoring with a low shot. In the 60th minute a flick on by Dobbie led to Sam Cato making it 2-1 and although Labour pressed strongly when sub Chris Waite came on, efforts by Aaron John and Matt Kelly came to nothing and with five minutes remaining Dobbie headed home another Jane cross.
